Shadow is pretty shap again.

Yep, just as the title says.

 

 

Huntress, and warfield have push's for melee (which already have a huge disadvantage to make up ground)

 

There are few items that actually give melee an advantage (foe and explosive).

 

Aside from backdooring towers, there is so much AOE that he melts.

 

How about turning gauss cannon in to a NON stun NON slow item for MELEE only and no slow for ranged? that would help melee's like crazy.

He's balanced. He can't make any fancy plays, because vortex's effective range is too small, but that's not his role. He is a boring hero that relies on his team to cc the other team, to take all their cc, etc. At least in a high level 10-player game scenario. Because in pubs a shadow can just alternate between farming noobs and jungle creeps, until he can 1v5 the enemy team. There are many broken melee champs right now, (lz, pentos, even boros is slightly op), and some balanced champs that are more rewarding than shadow if you can outplay the average pubber (ling, leo, zera). Being a low skill cap champ doesn't mean that shadow should be 1v5ing teams, it just means he doesn't need to land complicated skillshots, or position himself too carefully to generally achieve good results.

 

You are right, your proposed change to GC would help melee's like crazy. Which is why we are NOT going to do that.

Shadow, like many other heroes, is totally viable without being a free pick.

 

All you have to do is vary your itembuild a lot, depending on heroes. Generally, having shadow as your one and only lategame DPS is really risky, but he works great as a pseudo carry; pushing, flobing teamfights up and such.

Some ideas Atomik,

 

Rework the Vortex.... Maybe on top of what it already does it could apply debuff immunity for a few seconds IF he goes in to the vortex. So that vortex isn't really only used for a escape or trap, but used for him self to initiate a fight by votexing him self speeding in and being debuffed for a second so he can actually attack someone.

 

I don't think anyone else relies on cloak from Shinobi to close the gap on heroes. I wish his occlusion ONLY turned off when it was battle with heroes, so he could actually move to lanes quickly. (like he used to be able to)

 

The blind on shadow's R doesn't' seem to do much either IMO.

 

As it stands right now, other than that, he's getting molested because in team fights, hes got nothing to offer other than cleaning up after the team fight is half over or, using his vortex to isolate for a second.

Vortex is essentially a AoE Lockbox that also applies slows and movement buffs...its arguably one of the best skills in the game, allowing synergy with a ton of heroes.

I like how Shadow was borderline autobanned and then got a small nerf/people realized how to play against him and now we have this thread.

 

he didnt got small nerf.

 

He got multiple nerfs in multiple patches.

 

(simply short story like at some dota heroes becoming broken, something is shap, buff buff small buff buff nobody noticing, buff -> holy shap his hero is op tier 1 tier 1 tier 1 tier 1 tier 1 cry tier 1 cry tier 1 cry nerf cry small nerf cry nerf nerf cry cry cry nerf forgotten)

It's placebo effect. There have been times where a hero was changed to do even 100% increased damage without telling anyone and ppl notice he's a bit stronger, but no where near that degree. Also times I say I made a change but haven't actually and ppl comment on how the change has supposedly affected the Hero.

Well that's just like when you nerf a hero, people automatically (usually) don't want to pick that hero anymore because it's not as strong as it was the day before so it just feels wrong to do. Even though a hero could still be stupidly broken or just as viable as before.
