fatman
Ayy. 'Bout time for an Immortal guide? Since the patch a few weeks ago that finally put Immortal in the spotlight, I have been playing him extensively. I have been hesitating to release a guide on him because of the constant (but well deserved) nerfs to his kit. Now that the nerf hammer seems to have been finally sheathed, I will finally make a guide. So far all the other Immortal players I have run into in pubs have not had any good builds, and I am very confident in mine. This will focus on a tanky Immortal, but will be able to dish out a good amount of damage. Talents Cunning Fitness Prodigy Discipline Swiftness Integrity Youth So pretty much very tanky talents, with a bit of spell damage mixed in. Standard stuff. Don't worry too much about talents. Items Start off with a basic INT and energy item. These will build into our first item, the >Khalis relic An extremely underused item in this game, the Khali's relic is very potent in the right hands. Providing great stats on immortal, as well as giving an ADDITIONAL shield. Its great. >Energy saber Now you may be asking, "Well why would you get a physical damage item if you are speccing for spell damage?" Its because during the downtime of your skills, the saber will provide you with some decent damage output, giving about 350-400 damage per auto attack late game >Lightning rod Great burst, solid item on immortal. Will build into Cerebro later >Ihan crystal Gives a nice HP pool, as well as the ability to regenerate a bit of your HP. Also gives energy, and a permanent 60 INT and 300 hp. >Cerebros Same reason as lightning rod >Darksteel titan Combined with your shields, I have seen a Darpa 2 hit himself when attacking me. See the title of the guide. >Gravity edge So why get an INT item if all of Immortal's abilities scale off of max energy? Its because that by this point most enemies will have spell resistance to counter you. Sacrificing a bit of frontal damage for armor penetration is defiantly worth it. Plus the 65 INT or whatever will give you around 200 energy, and has a small move speed boost. This is better than Argus crystal if you have to choose between the two on Immortal. >Sunflare gun I chose this item over Asura's Guise because sunflare offers Energy as well as giving only 3% less spell leech. Also will leech off physical damage from the Energy Saber, and the unique will help you chase down enemies by buffing your movespeed while reducing theirs. Skills Get your Q first, then W, then E, max W first, as the base stats are far better compared to that of your Q (it increases by 20 per level or something stupid like that?) After W max Q then E. Play style When engaging DPS heroes, save your W until they start attacking you. Be careful not to get silenced before you can apply your shield. Use your Q to either knock them away from you or toward you, if you are chasing or running. Your R is great for ambushing, try to teleport right on top of the enemy, then as they are running out of the circle, use your Q to knock them back in. I hope you enjoyed my Immortal guide. No more nerfs please --Fatman (cLaw) ayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy lmao
taznkid
Energy Saber sucks, plus the Unique is the same as Khalis Relic. Atom Smasher or Eternal Drive would probably be a better choice than Darksteel Titan. Argus is pretty good if you are aiming for damage. Frozen Curiass should be your primary health item once you have those Ihan stacks up. My personal build order looks like: 1. Buckler (with Hatchet, since it helps last hitting and HP regen, along with last hitting considering Immo's pathetically low base attack; similar idea to Cow I suppose) 2. Kinetic Cell 3. Ihan Crystal 4. Gravity Edge 5. Khalis Relic/Argus Crystal 6. Khalis Relic/Argus Crystal 7. Cerebros And then any of the following: Eternal Drive Atom Smasher Other items with high energy Replacing Ihan with Frozen Curiass. In my opinion, you don't really need Duran's Pendant...just put 1 point into the Energy Regen at level 2, as you're rarely going to need the shields this early on. fatman
To be honest, I have tried out the powerstrike items and I don't really like them on Immortal. Sure atom offers a slow, but you don't really need it on Immortal that much. Energy saber offers a lot more damage on every auto attack, and it gives more energy. Frozen cuirass is pretty good on him, but I don't have room for it in my build. I already stated why I don't get Argus. And I never said to get duran's pendant. By the basic INT and energy items I mean the +9 INT item and the +200 energy one. Also, the reason I get Dark steel over some other HP item is because it gives a nice armor amount (with shields on you have around 67% phys damage reduction). The unique goes very well with your shields, as the reflect damage is insane. If you don't want to get DST chilling or korhol are very good choices as well. I don't need a spell resist item that much because Immortal can usually survive attacks from burst casters like cyp, using both your W and Khali's, as well as the 20% spell resistance from shields. taznkid
Without True Damage, Energy Saber is a waste. Without Weapon Speed, Energy Saber is a waste. With Khalis Relic, Energy Saber is a waste. Even without all that, current Energy Saber is just a waste in general. The general consensus is that it's too weak for the energy consumed for it. Also, by the looks of it, either you're going to have to hang on to Argus Crystal, or be stupidly squishy because you have no health. Activating shields takes response time, and having some base health helps with that. Frozen Curiass and Eternal Drive I just like because Immortal was designed to be a support, and this way you can both support and still do a shapload of damage. I would definitely get Chilling over DST though. Unless you're Justicar, it's generally the better choice.

Late game we'll say I have around 4k energy. 5% of 4000 is 200. 175% of that is around 350 damage per attack, which is more damage than you Cerebro proc. Sure it is physical, but next to Khali's it gives the most energy out of any item in the game.

Sure it is physical, but next to Khali's it gives the most energy out of any item in the game. You don't benefit from the Energy unique, so no, I don't think +100 energy is worth it. 1. The difference with Cerebros proc is that you have Gravity Edge and INT scaling, which should about match the number you gave. 2. You don't have any Armor Penetration; generally, you can assume around 50% armor average on the other team, so you can cut that number down to around 175. 3. The scaling is based on CURRENT Energy, not Max Energy. So basically, with every single Auto-Attack, you are doing less and less damage. Whereas: Atom Smasher comboed with Cerebros synergize very well with Immortal's ult, more so if you land the slow on them to stack with the slow of the ultimate Eternal Drive allows you to dive with shields active, since you do not have to worry about CC (and I believe it also provides Armor, and Sustain Regen, both with the Active and stats) You don't have the Weapon Speed to make use of it properly either. At best you will get off 3 shots MAYBE. That's assuming that if you get ganked, you have the time to toggle it on; it's either that or watch your Energy drain away attacking creeps.
