Hogwarts
Worth the hype? I see there making a live action movie. Is the anime actually worth watching?
Midknight
I've been reading the manga and haven't bothered with the Anime until it's a bit further ahead but, from what I've seen so far, it's fairly interesting. Maybe a bit over-hyped, mainly due to the gore factor (lots of human dismemberment/disfigurement and stuff). Honestly, I'd say it's "good", but Übel Blatt is better. If you're into gory stuff, it's good for what it is. If you're put off by gory stuff, don't bother with it.
taznkid
When I try to evaluate Anime, I tend to factor in whether or not it "makes me think". It's why I like Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann so much (was the best Anime suggestion that I took in my life). Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan) did not do that for me. It's certainly interesting, but that is about it for me. I have not read the manga, but in the Anime, the development of the main character, Eren Jaeger, is rather poor, making internal conflict underdeveloped. Most of the characters in general are rather flat, and do not possess much depth. Why the hype? I believe there are 3 reasons: 1. As Midknight said, it's pretty gory, and humans being the lovely people they are, are attracted to gory stuff. 2. It's unique. Off the top of my head, there is not a single Anime with a plot/setting that comes remotely close to Shingeki no Kyojin, except for Black Bullet, and Black Bullet itself is rather different from Attack on Titan (and came afterwards too if I remember correctly; I also consider it the better Anime, although I do not know text-wise). 3. For all my bashing on it, it has a pretty nice sound track. Worth watching? Yes. Worth all the hype? No. If you want a blood and gore action/conflict Anime, Akame Ga Kill (and the manga) are much better in my opinion.
Letherl
I'd for the most part agree with the above posts. My opinion having watched it is yes, it was a very good anime and I enjoyed watching it, but if I had the choice I'd wait until they released the second season. It by all means is worth it to watch though. If you want a gory anime with a decent plot I'd check out Tokyo Ghoul, the second season I believe just finished and it also has a pretty unique storyline. You could also watch Corpse Party >.> lol

Hogwarts
Im not really interested in "gore" anime I honestly was not real clear on what Attack was about. Other then some Giants eating a few humans
taznkid
Change "few" to a lot, include humanity on the brink of extinction, throw in some political intrigue, and you are about right.
Midknight
Might I suggest, as an alternative, World Trigger. It's fairly new and pretty fun and some of the style quirks are hilarious.

Hogwarts
So I watch the season 1 of this. Whats in the basement? And are all Titans humans? Judging from the convo between Erin? The Elf titan and Pixies the Bald General. Humans created titans or something to unify the human race. But something seems to have gone wrong. Probably something to due with the amount of corruption in the most inner city. Its now pretty obvious the tall titan and the armor titan are humans who are all ready established in the story. Well....we don't really know. The Anime was based off of the Manga which is the original story, and judging by when the Anime came out and the current amount of chapters, I assume the Manga only had around 40 chapters or so; considering a full serialization can take as long as around 9-10 years with around 300 (easily more) chapters, the Manga has definitely not been around for very long. Consequently, there is still a lot of plot of unveil, which the original mangaka himself might not have quite gotten around to yet. Having said all that, I don't read the Shingeki no Kyojin Manga (not yet at least), so I have no idea whether or not the plot questions you might have are answered yet. Midknight
I've been keeping up with the Manga. We still don't know what is in the basement. There's some big conspiracy involving memory alteration, and yes, it seems that all Titans were probably originally Humans. BTW, spoilers. The series is "good", but not "great". Others have done it better (ie. Berserk, Ubel Blatt). I think the only thing the anime has going for it is the "superior animation style" but that will only take you so far. Probably the reason I follow up with Akame Ga Kill, but not Shingeki no Kyojin. Ubel Blatt definitely seems highly rated from what I can tell on Manga Apps...I'll get started after I finish Volume 3 of Apocalypse Alice..... Take appropriate reading precautions.
Hogwarts
Well I, I caught up on the manga. Its like 3 more years before we find out whats in the basement. But im more curious about the "homeland" of Annie and co. I assume its a village that is protected by titan shifters. But man that must be one crazy place because humans gathered attract titans. I also would think there are not that many shifters in the village if they resort to sending out 4 12ish year old kids to start all this chaos to lure out the "power" that Erin has. Im even more curious about the Beast Titan. It seems most people think its a human. But I dont know All titants look humanish. I wonder if its not an ape that was turned to a titan then ate a shifter or some crap. I mean they had to start trials for the titan serum some where. And monkeys are a common stand in for humans.
