Sphynx
Hello Everyone. I am creating a new clan called Edify. The purpose of this clan is to take players with low to medium skill level at AOS and train them to be better players. Several quality players have agreed to help me with this task. The main point of this message is: If you are a new player, or a longer time player that has yet to get very good at AOS. I am offering a clan that will give you advice, partners to play with and most importantly strategy guides on heroes. If you are interested look up the Clan Edify and send us a message or reply here. Alex, GhostDragon, Strider and 5 others
Alex
A really nice idea. I hope there are many willing and curious new players find the way into the forum and that take the opportunity.

SCV
Hmm, I heard jungle maar is OP, what do you think, soed?
BestPlayer
Doesn't sound extremely viable. I suppose you can kite the creep around inside your damage aura and then pop it on them before it expires? Killing tank would be very difficult though. Johannes
Maar got reworked he is now a really weak roatass port, if you try jungling him you will die
Alex
This isn't a balance debate, it's about a new clan that openly welcomes new players. So it would be nice to stick to the topic, because it is one of the rare, useful topics in this forum. It should be pinned imo. The mates on NA should drum up business and spread the word. Maybe something similar could happen on EU, too :-) GhostDragon and ZERATUL

Would be a great idea. Well clan Super is already an all-inclusive hodgepodge of players from every skill level. It seems rather evident that Super could fulfill this function. The question is whether AoS deserves it???????????? ZERATUL
Spooky
I was trying to do sth similar on EU. Made group for better pubbers to set up games later between them, but with simpler rules and set up than standard inhouses. But invitations itself were taking too much time and figured out that I would never get enough of them

BestPlayer
@Soed: Someone told me there's no quality players left in Super Would that be the same someone who would be disappointed if you left clan Plus4? One of your many clanmembers, perhaps?
taznkid
So would this be like a mentoring program, sort of like the Ladder clan ones? If so, I wouldn't mind helping out >_>

Sphynx
So would this be like a mentoring program, sort of like the Ladder clan ones? If so, I wouldn't mind helping out >_> Its just a clan willing to take on completely new or unskilled players on the attempt to make them better. I.E. a clan with some experts and some noobs in it. I haven't seen anyone make one like it yet hahaha. (maybe there is a reason :P)
Alex
Some days ago I thought, too, that clan Super could fulfill this role on the EU servers. There is a good mix of years of inhouse experience and quite unexperienced, learn willing players. The question is "how" to mentor new players. Inhouses with experienced players could be useful, but also a frustrating moment for some, whether it shows them how far they are behind others, whether there are some "pro players" that don't have the neccessary patience with new players. I think different types of players (1. completely new to the game, 2. some months into it, but still learning the basics/heroes 3. regular pub players that master some heroes, but have a huge lack of inh experience) need different types of mentors/methods. A tutorial map as mentioned in another thread could be very useful for the category 1 players that are complete beginners. Being invitingly to new players may seem like time wasting effort for some, but it could help in the future to have a bigger player pool, thus more teams and more fun in the league. Alex
My clan also consists of many beginners to the inhouse scene. I guess bringing new players to the inhouse is also a part of Clan edify's tasks/goals. From what I saw today, edify is gradually growing on NA. Those are good news. Maybe we can have some train inhouses on EU and NA where we can play in a stressless and friendly atmosphere? We can do clan vs clan or mix it up. I think both ways would be benefitial. It would be very nice if I knew anything about the map editor in a way so that I could design a quick way to teach people about Talents, and setting the drop down boxes for Talents and Build orders. Almost all new players do not even know that talents exist. I did not know for like 20-30 games when I first started playing. I also started playing at around a 0-300 record. I only kept playing out of stubbornness. Sometimes when told you are a noob and to gtfo of the game... that is not going to foster people trying to learn this game. It would be nice if people were more polite about it. But I can change the jerks on the internet. My goal is to find the few nice people and teach them to be much better than the jerks in the first place. Different players need different levels of advice. Level 1) Advice about how to even set up a hero, set talents, build items etc Level 2) Advice for builds on a hero (basic game strategy).. requires learning what the heroes do. Level 3) Advancing skill at heroes so people can compete in PUB games. This simply requires practice and more understanding of ALL the heroes Level 4) These players are now ready to learn advanced strategies such as pushing and drawing in lanes, how to gank right, how to communicate and call mia's, basically How to inhouse basics.. that kind of stuff. Level 5) EveryDay inhousers (Experts). They now make their own advice by designing builds and strategies themselves. But also know how a hero plays into a team. (Not just trying to design a hero to one shot kill people when he is a support :P I would Imagine Edify will focus on players Level 1-3. The good news is we have a few players that can help with level 4 players. It depends on what type of players I find. ZERATUL
I agree with everything you said sphynx, but thers a problem thats here for some time now(EU atleast, dont know about NA). 90% of newbs wont listen to anything ur saying and will just continue going middle lane feeding. Maybe this can be cuz language barier sometimes, but its mostly them not wanting to listen.
Sphynx
Obviously you cant recruit players who dont talk or listen. My general system is this: 1) Does the player respond to messages. Advice. 2) Is the player being rude in the game, or trash talking... Then I will not contact them 3) I check out their profile and stats after game to see if they have sufficient interest in AOS itself. Obviously I can't grab every newb, it will be more like 5%.. But thats 5% who will improve. So far I have had more interest from players around Level 3 than 1/2. Mostly because Level 3's might know who I am, and realize its worth getting advice. Level 1/2 have less interest in the game, so more work is required. Edited April 20, 2015 by Sphynx
ZERATUL
I can help if needed with those lvl 2-3+ players, dont think I have so much interest in helping completely new players, unless they rly want to listen.
