[Community Tutorial Request] Can we as a community...

Create a short video or maybe even 'map out' a playable tutorial for Aeon of Storms?

This game is impossible to get a good basic match out of if you are a new player. There are plenty of other gametypes on SC2 Arcade that have a decent tutorial explaining what you should be doing and what you shouldn't do. We are all guilty of bashing new players, be it through sheer stupidity on their part or just a lack of understanding. I think focusing on something OTHER than Mumble/IH training would be a much better idea.

How often do we as gamers look at a game that would require us to use a tutorial that required us to download another program to talk to a bunch of strangers? (I get this is the whole idea behind everything on the internet).

With the community of AoS, we can pool our knowledge (not so much Build This Hero with these items and talents for X outcome) but helping players, veteran and scrub, to become better players. I've been asking questions as of late about certain unexplained or improperly implied mechanics and maybe by doing this thread we can give ECKO and the rest a guideline of what needs to be 'optimized' for essentially one of the only games I get on SC2 for anymore.

Thoughts would hopefully be explained either in detail or maybe in the form of a question so people like Gino and Redhydra and others could help explain exactly what could/needs to be done!

EDIT: P.S. Could we possibly bring back a "Premium Guide Section"? Make it so the guides who are updated consistently and based on community feedback could be stickied in their own subforum?

See even something like that would be acceptable. A "-tutorial" command that would take roughly 1-2 minutes of time to just play a voice over explaining what to do and what not to do. Hell someone write a script and I'll read it! I have a clear non-accented English voice.

Why doesn't someone just take it upon them selves to create a tutorial using test mode, and just go over basic fundamentals everyone makes when they first start? I'm sure if someone made a test mode, no need for a script and just spoke about the actions they are doing, why it's good or bad, ect, I think they would actually put that into effect, hell, if we are lucky, maybe a direct link on the loading screen?

Suggested this almost a year ago: http://www.aeonofsto...ers/#entry64728

Then

An extract from a quote I made a few months ago..

I've not been on Aos for a while but I still wonder that it would be nice if there was more interactive help. Such as a skip able Aos tutorial, with the Aos site mentioned more heavily, so that new players can improve their gameplay. Perhaps even a heavy mention of guides on the splash screen. Or a basic tutorial which outlines certain things, forming a information box around parts of the GUI which can then be closed.

I've just found three other threads in which tutorials has come up:

http://www.aeonofsto...s-guide-to-aos/

http://www.aeonofsto...decent-players/

http://www.aeonofsto...al-mode-please/

It's the obvious solution. Heck if we need players to join IH, as we do, we need to bring the community to them. The "Join Aeonofstorms.com" at the end of a game was a step in the right direction - but the devs need to listen to what has been echoed multiple times. Heck delaying 1 or 2 heroes won't matter in the long run - if the pub scene improves and more and more players tread into the Mumble scene. The most curious thing about this is that support has been coming from everywhere, from pub players to moderators to IH players, deliberately in order of skill level, why can't the devs at least acknowledge this as a solution - or tell the community the reason why they can't.

Number of changes on the splashscreen to make the game more 'easily accesible' = 0

And as always some good advice from El Dox

Try LoL.

Skydive, thank you I was aware it's been brought up a few times. However I was referring to ONE of us taking it upon themselves and creating a video and uploading it to the forums or YouTube and providing a link. And with any luck since the work is taken out of it for the Devs, I think they would put the link on the loading screen and info about what the link is. I'm contemplating making the video tutorial myself, however my skill level isn't compartively matched to people on this forum...yet. However if people throw out what would be good to cover in the video maybe I'll just do a TM and use a few hero's to go over basic fundamentals that I do have down now. If I can help, I'm willing. Just not sure if I am the right person for this job. So with this said people throw out a good list to cover for someone to do it, or maybe I will if no one is volunteering for it

Its simple as this, don't just suggest things you can easily do yourself. If you want to make a tutorial video on AOS then do so, it isn't that hard. Don't depend on others to do it for you. Specially when they have other things to do.

Damn I hate when people forget that this game is free, and no one is getting paid to make your request come true. If I was Ecko i would have quit on this game long time ago, crying about balancing the game is one thing but crying about stuff that isn't that important is ridiculous.

I can start recording voice for whatever script anyone would like to record, but I bring this point up because I leave for basic training in less than a week. I just wanted to put idea's into the heads of the community so when I come back one of my favorite games will still be thriving :P
