SayMyName
So, whats going on with mumble server? Why there is like less and less channels? Today im seeing 5 channels (counting main public and general chat + party a b c and dev priv channel)? Is there any starvation problems or what? If there are sometimes like 60 people hows its possible to split them? Alaben
ginosaji
The devs want to keep people more centralized. Previously, there had been a problem where people were scattered among 20 different channels with like 2-3 people per channel. It was difficult to get people together and organized. Anyway, Adamantium, Highdrater, Quidditch, or myself are on just about every night during the busiest period of the night (about 5:00pm-11:00pm US Central time). If you need another channel for a game/draft, etc come find one of us and we'll make you another.
SayMyName
But its a problem if there are people playing IH to have channel for this purpose, for the team, cause other people want to be alone or with few people playing together. I talked with friends and they dont understand this change which is going on. We have more people coming into mumble, league going on and counter logically less channels, which is not helping but hurting growing the community. How is this going to help when there may be for example 2 inhouses on and maybe 3 or 4 groups of people pubbing? What if I want to have a private conversation with someone do i need to come get one of you to help? RedHydra
If it is absolutely necessary, adding more channels can be done. Otherwise, it is highly encouraged to support the server by purchasing your own private channel. Each team will own their own team channel on the day during tournaments. Mus
So basically you're only going to provide the minimum number of channels needed for ih games and if we want to have private conversations or pub in separate groups then we have to buy our own channels? I think it's time to download Skype. Edited February 25, 2014 by Zaid Alaben

Mus
Yeah you are paying for the server so you decide how to run it. I choose not to donate money, I just use the server for free to talk to people, play pubs and inhouse games. I don't restrict my usage of mumble to just ih games and nobody else does either. If the server fails to meet my needs I will go elsewhere. I might not be alone in my logic, in which case you could end up driving people away from mumble which wouldn't be very productive. I doubt many people will start paying money just to get a channel in which to socialise, Skype does that for free. Alaben

The amount of channels has not been a problem that i have noticed for the past few months. I dont see why its an issue now There are many "private" channels that are normaly empty imcluding mine. That general can be used. I know awesome's channel has like 4 subchannels inside of it. Demi had her main channel and 2 sub channels also For sure Myself Demaxi and Awesome dont mind if people are borrowing there channel for a game

It might also be wise to advertise how much a private channel costs as I have not seen this.
RedHydra
Here's what EKCO wrote: If you would like a private channel of your own, we will lease you a channel with ACL privledges for 4$/month (Mumble's cheapest service package costs 6$/month, so you save 33%). Not to mention we are extremely flexible and will never hound you for payments. Donate via the website and send a message to RNG to set up your channel. Renewals begin on the 1st of each month. Each private channel should hold only up to 3 sub-channels.

There's almost never more than 50 people on at a time. How is this an unreasonably small number of channels? Shall we have 400 channels with a server cap of 60?
