Straighter
Greelus.Humankind “Life would be tragic, if it weren't funny” - Stephen Hawking Introduction: This one will be short .... Greelus is a ranged support carry with good escape, constant slow and silence. He probably wont gather up kills, but can be extremly annoying if u place and spam his skills correctly. Drafting: Greelus is a tanky support carry that can constantly harass a whole team. He adds nice cc and great poking, but isnt picked very often .... his "problem" is that hes a little underpowered right now. If he will be balanced in the future he will be a very nice support, offering constant aoe spelldamage, silence and slow while still being pretty tanky. Talents: 1. Might (+15 weapon damage) Fitness (+180 health) Prodigy (+12% cooldown reduction) Swiftness (+6% movement speed) Youth (+180 Energy) Wealth (+200 Minerals) Hmmmmm pretty obvious .... wealth is a nice early start even if u cant rush treasure anymore. Skill build: QEQEQRQEEstatsRstatsstatsWWRWW W is actually really useless, u have to come close to enemies in order to use this, and this is what u totally dont want to do, u always want to keep at least an 8 range distance to your enemy. Item build: early game: Because we cant start with our favourite starting item anymore we will start with goggles + one health and one mana pot. After we have about 900 minerals we recall and buy a lost treasure, this will give us early farm and nice sustain. mid - late game: The first big item u should grab is Nitro, the reason this item makes the most sense is because we a) are squishy and have to poke constantly and b)the slow is amazing with our constant aoe. The next core item is gravity, this increase our spelldamage output very much, it is possible to play a tanky item before but usually i like it this way. After this we should get a team support item, most of the time korhal (or chilling/buffer). This will make us tanky enough to resist some high range spell damage and will also support our team. Having no more specific items allows us to build taser + swordbreaker pretty often. INT pots will allow us to spam our ultimate even more often. additional items: Darksteeltitan is very helpfull vs aa carrys, parallax can counter debuff problems. Lifetech is nice to get spellresist and health. Warpshard is awesome to get a second blink. Ihan will give u more INT and health, if u can sneak it into your build later. Yamato doesnt fit his style, but can help in teamfights. Seed can help us to spam more in teamfights, sunflare gun will add a nice burst. Menace is a great item to increase our speed late game. core items: Abilities: passive: a nice escape at no cost, always use this! it allows us to constantly poke. Q: Some true damage and a nice slow. W: i have never seen this spell being usefull whatsoever, even one level doesnt help us early.... (correct me if im wrong) E: This is very usefull again, it wont instantly silence enemies but it is especially usefull in teamfights and when no creeps are around. R: His main skill, constantly poke with this and its high range (12). It doesnt stack so dont try it! Its an aoe slow with nitro which is especially usefull. (its total scale is 180% but noone will probably stay that long near your ultimates, still dont underrate this!) Playstyle: Start mid lane and harass (depending on how strong the laning of your opponent is). Be as annoying as possible, spam your passive plus Q, last hit and once u have your R use it to be even more annoying. His aa range is only slightly lower than raynors, so u should be able to get some farm. U are not a good ganker, but u are quite strong during teamfights, your big timings are: the first time u get your R, when u get it level 2 and 3+ gravity. Teamfights: use your passive and constantly poke as good as u can, use silence drones and their huge range to annoy other ranged caster before the teamfight starts. Slow incoming enemies. And predict where your enemys will poke/attack and use your ultimate there (preferrably on choke points). During the teamfight: spread your R to hit as many enemies as possible (because it doesnt stack), silence casters and/or carrys. Spam your Q too whenever possible. Stay behind your team! and use your escape if u need to (+slow following enemies). Suggested changes: -make his R instant -slightly increase his R range plus greelus sight range -increase the duration of Q -replace his W -increase the the aoe of R -Q deals spelldamage (ofc not all of them) as always feedback is welcomed. Moo
I don't think gravity as a second item is a good choice. His Q is already true damage, so its unique is wasted on greelus' consistant damage spell. Symphonic seeds is a better second choice in my opinion, since his cooldowns are decently low, one proc and he can spam a ton, helping fulfill his purpose better than edge in my opinion. I agree on pretty much everything else. Support items after first two int ones, unless you have to be the one on your team to rush a khorhal/chilling/buffer, then delay int for support items. Against good opponents landing R for more than a fraction of a second won't really happen, so I feel that you shouldn't focus on buffing the damage of R. taznkid
Thanks a lot for this guide. I wanted to learn how to play him.
heimdallr
my bit of playing with greelus says that you should put ihan early for the sustain since even with gravity you will have some trouble spamming R and also the active will heal any bit of damage you had sustained besides using your heroic after you lose the need of sustain just sell it and you keep the charges Also the silencing drones--> IMO in team fights if u use them early as you suggest they will get killed....instead I prefer to use them DURING the engagement when enemy aa´s are tied in combat and won´t attack the drones. Then they can be a real bother even if you allowed a caster to get of his spells in battle, screwing the timing of spells of non nuke players...screw a geneva healing, dat vortex or ultimate in between battle....or they can screw nukers if they are the kind of nuker that can´t insta kill yet so needs to wait for in between battle to tele in and nuke. I played a lot of greelus, and his r is bread and butter, and gravity is a must. You got 3 puss to drop as you please and they are devastating in team fights. Also when your tanky enough you just drop eh right on yourself as silly melee AA attack and they just poof away. Good guide, I wouldnt bother with the wpn damage talent tho, Armor Resist Hp Prodigy Swiftness Energy regen Is what I'd do.that extra defence will pay off in spades. Skydie
Being the behemoth I am I allowed BoomBina to chose my hero, an act of pity :) End game build: Cerebro/Nitro/Grav Edge/Ancient Rune + Parallax/Ihan/Star's Fury/Atom Smasher/Sunflare e.t.c. Talents: Wep dmg (for last hits), HP/Armour, CD reduc/Swiftness/Wealth (With lost treasure nerf idk If I may go youth instead and take durans). Make sure you get Ihan early/mid though for the stacks :D. As you can see VS Rory it's highly recommended to get Parallax. Wonder why BoomBina didn't upload this haha :D EDIT: After reading the read of the guide here's what I have to say: Wep dmg talent is for easy last hitting during lane phase Get lightning rod as your 2nd item for easy farming The 'W' skill imho is barely useful - I normally use it to troll Rancors early/mid game. Heroes imho which it's good vs late game I don't really want to hang around with; e.g. Balrog. Zaid has told me that Greelus energy sap on Balrog is pretty devastating due to Rogs poor mana pool..so I guess if you want to take the risk it could be worth it. Straighter
I disagree with lightning rod, it is viable in pubs but other items are far more important and u want to keep distance IH and once u have gravity u can farm very easy, and even before it's not hard ... It's hard before u get your ulti, in pubs rod is a nice choice but not IH
