So why is it that we can't talk about Mods?

Seriously wtf? Why are we not allowed to talk about mods in a constructive way? Why is every mod discussion deemed spam, off-topic, toxic? By the very mods that people want to raise their voice against I may add.

Are you mods so scared of people pointing out your abusive behavior, biased decision-making process, the prevention of which you exist for in the first place?

Not that any of you administration team cares anyway. Just look at this forum and remember playsotis years ago. See my point?

I don't know where else to post this but I guess here is as good as anywhere else.

Gino I have been trying to PM you about the issue that came up in the rating thread. Banzai won't let me continue posting in that thread so I need to PM you and Midknight to talk about it, but I can't do that until you delete some messages.

Someone will probably offer a followup response but in the past, talking about mods usually led to strings of ill mannered, unproductive posts that we do not wish to facilitate. Thus, to avoid this, the powers that be suggest that talking about moderation is a no-no.

This "in the past thing" is very intriguing because I have yet to see an unfounded complaint thread. Productive is a matter of perspective. I don't know about you but to me it is productive to correctly judge and determine the capacity of any key member of the community that I am a part of.

You can. I just said you can't talk about them in an unrelated topic, mostly referring to Zaid's post.

Wrong.

I received a warning point from Dylan because I, and let me quote Dylan on this, was "Discussing moderation."

I took a week break and i came back to find barley 10 new pots /topics in the lobby. Popular forum is popular

On the moderation topic. I have had several discussions about this with Red and the senior mods. Adam and Gino seem to be on board with a newer more friendly approach. I dont really want to play the blame game. But Red is mostly responsible for this friction between the moderation staff and the community in general. Red has been the cause of this friction from way back when. I mean the reason Sidd split from SOTIS and took the SOTIS name and ECO had to rename the game into AOS was because well a lot of issues but Red was the straw that broke the camels back as you would say. For those who dont know Sidd handled the administration aspect of the game and the old forum and was the leader of the SOTIS community. When this game was in its golden age. Where you would have 3 inhouse games on the NA server going on at once. Now on mumble your more likely to find the vast majority of players playing custom games like Mines and Magic.

Any way im getting off topic. Red has been the focus of 99% of jokes and jest related to AOS and SOTIS for years and years. This has caused him to become bitter and harsh. So this is the stance he has taken with moderation. The moderators learned from him and thus became the same way.

Red has come to understand the error of his ways in the past few weeks and appointed these senior moderators. And has taken a step back from moderation in general. He also did the same with balance. Giving the role to Highdrater which we all agree was a good thing. Two of the senior moderators are all for a new welcoming and friendly relation ship between moderators and the community. Gino stands out as being the main force behind this by constantly enforcing a new open policy. Instead of the drill sergeant manner that has become the norm from the administration staff.

tl;dr

Mods are improving give it time.

Just to put my own opinion out there, I have never had a problem with discussing moderation. I'm just telling you what I remember hearing.

Always wanted to use this meme on here on a post about moderation :D

A few things I disagree with here.

1) Golden age? 3 IHs at once? Maybe in 4.0/5.0 but trust me 6.0 never had 3 IHs going on at once.

2) Red logic: Gives up being balance 'guru'. Looks at complaint received 8 months ago. Changes Tass. Changes Tass back. True story bro.

3) I'm not all anti-Red. I think Red is a pretty fair Admin - maybe I'm biased considering he barely warns/bans me (perhaps as he is barely on). Just don't directly insult him on the forums. FTR He's less Nazi than Gino/Banzai :D.

I'm like 100% German, so don't get me all riled up.

Also, thread closed. I just started a new thread concerning moderation, please direct questions/comments there.

Sidd was never apart of 6.0........

I agree Red is a good person and he does his best to ease the stress between the player base and his brother. By trying to fix problems in the game his brother is to busy to deal with. One of the reasons red is hardly on is because how volatile the community treats him. In my experience Red has done way more nazi type moves then Gino. Honestly iv only seen Gino really be harsh when i felt the situation didn't need it once. And he learned from it and moved forward. That troll toxi thread. You love to throw around. Gino admitted he acted wrongly in and i don't know why you like to throw it around so much. Its a rare case.
