ShadowFlame
I like shadowmourne somewhat, but it has become ridiculous because of heroic passives and a few items (pyre, contam shard, explosive to name a few). Grunty and balrog are the most common ones, because their heroic passives increase damage output a lot. Also it is messed up on Garamond because the new shadowmourne has 2 scvs every time, and increases scvs by at least 3x (because new ones spawning attack immediately, it can be more). I propose that shadowmourne does not proc heroic passives, because that is my main problem with it. Thoughts and opinions appreciated, just don't get all over saying I'm an idiot please. Moo
I agree with the garamond part, but I have a feeling they intend to fix this anyways. It is good on grunty, but he isn't as good as nova or darpa anyways, in my opinion, his mobility out the the river is low compared to either of them and he is short-ranged. iatebambi
^^ in my experience and opinion, Grunty is a much better carry than Nova. @OP I think that SVCs proc'ed by SM for Garamond should at least die immediately after impact. The item should still proc heroic passives though IMO.
ANARCHY
trying to code every heroes heroic passive to try and balance shadowmourne would be a nightmare of a task & considering half the heroes passives don't stack its completely unfair on the flipside trying to balance shadowmourne or a single item in the game by balancing every heroes heroic passive is just retarded just remove it proccing heroic passives and up its damage to compensate for that and regarding garamond just make it give him timescale instead of procuring a shadow so it has the same effect Edited December 7, 2013 by ANARCHY

I normally see nova considered for a pick before grunty, I think because grunty is more easily countered, since he is low-range, low mobililty outside of river (and most fights won't be fought there if enemy is smart), and is heavily reliant on positioning. Maybe you are right, but my impression from playing inhouses was that nova is normally a better pick.

Hogwarts
Grunty is a situational pick where nova is a good pick regardless of your team comp............ ginosaji and heimdallr
Ironsights
I agree, shadowmourne should proc on hit items but NOT heroic passives from any hero.
