Malgloo retrofit or not?

Retrofit terrible item on grunty. Machete>stunknife>Pulse>Pyre>FOE>Shadowmourne is good in most situations.

This is a relatively safe build with FOE first. You could also skip stun knife, but why would you when it gives such great utility? You need weapon speed of some kind before Shadowmourne or it won't do you any good. Pyre is the cheapest weapon speed item for what you get. If you really don't want pyre in your build, you could go Timesplitter first, but it's around 1900 minerals more than Pyre for about the same weapon speed pay off (obviously has other merits that make it a better item overall).

It depends on each game really, straight to shadowmourne is a little greedy, while FOE first is safer. Basically, I find that if you are entering teamfight stage, where it's 5v5, FOE first is preferable for some survivability. If it's still split pushing, gank, etc, and you can engage 2-3 people instead of all five, shadowmourne is preferable.

Personally, I have never had good results with going stun knife first on grunty.... the more weapon speed, the better, ofc, but hell, almost all the other weapon speed items seem better early on. CoA, in particular is very strong (though I think the item is OP, I get it first on all Str DPS other than Cain, and its great on most other heroes, too).

quidditch can u plz post a replay with that build? :D Personaly i go for a bit lates shadow mourne i go treasure,machete,phase,knife,shinoby,pyre then sm. Just woundered about the retrofit cause alot of ppl in pub is telling me to go retrofit that its the best on him but never got it.

Imo stun knife after duran works well.

I use it like this, walk hehind enermy easy lane . Place, aa+Q is normal . I sometime use stunknife then aa+Q . Since Q doesnt proc stun knife so you cab keep them back easier. Aa+Q at good timing sometime is faster than some weapon damage .
