taznkid
I used to have trouble fighting tanks with dps heroes, until I realized how good this item was. A few weeks later, I began to think it was overpowered, because I would slaughter tanks with just Explosive Retrofit, Khali Blade, and Timesplitter. Forget Isomorphic Pyre and/or Contamination Shard, the game would be over by the time I needed to get those. Very rarely would I have to get those two items along with Explosive Retrofit...now I do admit I have only played a single IH game, so I'm mostly a pub player...nevertheless, at least one of these must be true:1. Explosive Retrofit is overpowered 2. Most of the tanks I play against as a dps are noobs 3. I just farmed really well and got good items before the tanks could respond 4. Another item is actually the problem. So....opinions?
ginosaji
Depends on the hero and the circumstances of the game as to whether its a better choice than pyre or Shard. Pyre is and early game item that gives amazing weapon speed for the price. Shard is a late game item due to the fact that it's based off weapon damage. For shard you usually need support because you need time to get the stacks up.
ShadowFlame
I totally agree that explosive retrofit is too powerful. I recommend that the original target doesn't get hit with the extra damage, because the item is serving the purpose of both insane farming and more damage than a pyre ever does (almost). Contamination shard just isn't powerful enough when put in perspective with explosive. I'd also like to note that part of the op-ness of the item is that shadowmourne procs it. Doom
The original target does not take the damage....
ShadowFlame
The original target does not take the damage. I'm really confused then, because explosive definently eats up tanks, and its stats aren't whats doing that... I haven't tested it and will on my own so don't tell me all about how I'm wrong please. Moo
I thought it did damage the original target, I use it for farming and dealing more spell damage to stop armor stacking, and it seems to work. Maybe it is just in my head that it makes me actually hurt the justicar.
ANARCHY
the original target doesnt take damage, if this is happening then its a bug
Ironsights
explofit does boost your base damage, iirc, maybe that's why you are seeing it deal more damage to the primary target?
Moo
I dunno, maybe that is why.
EterNity
This thread is as misleading as it is confusing. Haha! Doom
Head
Explosive retrofit does not apply 70% of weapon damage to the target hit. ONLY to those around the target. Just to assure people. It would be rather op wouldn't it, to, with one item, increase your basic attack damage by 70% (in spell damage, which is even more op). Nevermind the 60 weapon damage that it gives
Indo
lol all the tank must have had neither dst nor barbed or your build would have been useless...
Hogwarts
iv tested it in test mode a while ago, The spell dmg isn't added to the target your attacking only to surrounding enemies unless its been changed recently it should not be a more viable option then pyre or shard
taznkid
I am very confused now....how the heck does it boost my damage against Darksteel Titan and Barbed Plating so much? Maybe I'm just going crazy....

Jaysi
If the tank stacked armor and no spell resist and you have high weapon damage and no pyre, I could see attacking targets next to the tank doing a lot more damage than aiming tank. That would be an interesting approach do doing damage to a tank
