3/1/2: Might,Fury,Veteran-Fitness-Swiftness,Youth

Final Build: Timesplitter (Stun is fun)

Khali Blade (For damage...lots of it)

Explosive Retrofit (For SPELL damage...lots of it, and overall damage....lots of it)

Lethal Barb (would replace, but game is usually over)

Organic Carapace/Darksteel Titan (usually organic carapace, I get Darksteel only if there are alot of dps heroes; I tried Darwin's Might, but I'm just not very good with using that item...)

Shadowmourne (Everyone loves a shadow copy of themselves dishing out damage...especially when that shadow has explosive retrofit)

Note:I opt out of Shinobi Style because there is alot of detection nowadays, and even without it people usually see the glimmer

General Build Order: Duran's Machete>Lethal Barb>Executioner's Axe>Stun Knife>Organic Carapace>Explosive Retrofit>Khali Blade>Timesplitter>Shadowmourne

Opinions and suggestions except flaming are all welcome.

your build should greatly depend on your play style and the unique situation in each game as the enemies you are facing may differ so different approach are used each game.

I agree with eternity, the only situational items you mentioned was switching organic for dst. However, do what fits your playstyle. As for your actual build, I think that shadow should have a build that allows you to take down towers fast, as splitpushing is one of the best things about him. Getting stun knife and phase cloak as items after Durans machette gives you good attack speed for tower taking, while also providing the ability for amazing ganks. Explosive retrofit is an amazing item on him IMO, as it lets you push and farm faster than some pushing characters. I don't like lethal barb as much on shadow because it doesn't give the attack speed boost when attacking a tower, since you can't crit a tower, thus slowing down your tower pushing. Stun knife and phase cloak give attack speed, damage, and a ton of utility for very low prices. Also, shinobi style is still very useful even once they have detection. It gives a ton of damage, good attack speed, the active gives movespeed, which is always good for shadow, and the first attack while cloaked deals a TON of extra damage based of your attack damage. It also gives some hp so you aren't as squishy. Contamination shard is very good on shadow also, but you don't need it if you have explosive retrofit, unless the enemy team has a justicar building spell resist and armor (:3). You should get pyre if they have a tank doing well, or if they have two or more people with high hp pools. Hand of mengsk is a good item if your team is behind and you are spilt pushing, since you can suicide for a tower and be back in time to fight if they enemy is pushing. There are other good items on him, but these are the main ones, and don't want to spend time explaining other ones. :)

I believe leech hasn't changed for awhile now. The main reason not many people get leech is because the new leech items don't synergize well with AA carries like they use to(eternity might be more viable).

Also with all of the really good AA items that give a good chunk of hp or spell resist or utility(Galactic Defender, Contam Shard, Shinobi, Phantom Menace, Sliptide, etc) there are better items than leech items.

Also, if you're a carry, most times you are hurt its either going to be a burst that kills you(sustain cant help there) or some form of CC( a stun or slow, so you can't sustain yourself). In both cases, you'd be better off with some form of hp, shields, spell resist, or raw damage to either survive, or kill them before they kill you.

That's my opinion on leech in the current version anyways.

The lethal barb is extremely wasteful here. Timesplitter alone puts Shadow just short of max attack speed. An extra 15% weapon speed or a little more agil would more than cover the small shortfall. If you like the stun on Timesplitter, ditch the lethal barb and rush Timesplitter off the top. If for some reason, you like the lethal barb better, ditch the timesplitter but don't get both.

Yea as SourDiesel said, there is no point in getting both Timesplitter and Lethal Barb, even though you said you would sell Lethal.

I just think critical builds are bad on Shadow(and most other heroes other than Nova, Boros, Kerrigan, and Balrog) because if they are high-armored enemies they negate a lot of the physical damage as well what would have been critical true damage.

Whereas Contamination Shard automatically does 15% of pre-mitigation weapon damage as true damage, adds a large amount of weapon damage, and gives health, all at a very good price compared to Khali Blade or Lethal Barb(okay, a bit more, but 3400 for this item? That's a great price).

You can also get a Galactic Defender for 20% spell resist, 80 weapon damage, and a 1k active shield. The spell resist and shield help you survive burst damage and CC which generally come in the form of quick spell damage. Also helps with Barbed Plating users.

In regards to your current build order, I don't claim to be an pro by any means, but I would try to build culling saber and maybe Lost Treasure a few items before their final versions(like after machete) so you can gain additional gp from them. From what you said, it sounds like you are immediately building their upper versions without taking advantage of their income effect.

Talents look fine

Early game should get one or 2 duran machete for leech in the jungle

Final build :

- Shinobi style ( Speed, cloak, damage )

- Time Splitter ( Stun , Atk speed , damage )

- Pyre ( Health ? What health ? )

- Shard ( Armor ? What armor ? )

- Galatic Defender ( I thought Cyp can 1 shot people )

- Sliptide ( Suprise !! Shadow also deal SPELL DAMAGE )
