So lately, i have been seeing nerfs lately about alot of characters who did something in the later portion of the game like Maar, Dustin, and others.

 

So im trying to figure out, can this game even have a late game hero? Since everything that sucks early game is good late game, like Maar, Dustin and some others, gets nerfed. If somebody does barely anything for the first 30 minutes of the game, then its practically a 4v5 for you to get an advantage, then steamroll. Other Mobas do this with people like PL,FV, and others, yet its completely balanced. Yet it seems that in AoS, anybody who gains an advantage from it being late game, caster or not, they are op and its top nerf priority.

Dustin sucks early game? I believe I have a replay of a dustin ludicrous against an entire team almost with no help from team, at the 20 min mark. Maar, on the other hand was just bullshap. Cyprus-worthy damage, at Raynor-worthy range, with Unix-worthy sustain spell, almost shadow-worthy AoE time boost, and Rancor-worthy AoE. And don't forget the most annoying passive since v3.0 Toxi ult.

 

In any case, Dustin wasn't nerfed that hard, and maar was only made actually counterable (other than really good Zeratul, nothing could ever threaten Maar. Even the so-called-OP Boros was unable to kill him in 1v1.

20 minutes is considered mid game isn't it? I think almost all games get to late game no matter what because of the 3rd tower. It's like the first two towers can barely defend you because of the targeting priority system and damage, but by mid to late game you can wave clear easily by the third tower and prolong the game for a long time. I forgot how the tower mechanics work and their damage, but I think they should have a longer range, do additional damage on consecutive hits, and the final tower should have a significantly lower life. The aggro on creep is also pretty bad in that they really don't punish people as hard as they should during the early game. Maybe increase the range on the roaches/Stalkers and increase their damage as well.

Creeps focusing towers over heroes is mega stupid as well, it promotes braindead spamming of skills and forces every solo laner to be a good counterpusher without adding anything to the gameplay.

 

Indeed, but creeps doesnt hurt enought to be a big deal. I mean, if you pick for example any STR hero with a Bucler he could tank a lot of damage from the creeps without going to the pool. Buckler gives you a lot of hp regen and with the armor and health regen talent you get about 5 health regen at lvl 1 what seems stupid to me. That said, I thing that only would make towers last longer on the early game, with the early game health regen and armor and how easy is to micro creeps (not sure if im using the correct term, I mean when you run and attack, run and attack, without being hit), it would not be a big deal to me, and tower would not get any kind of damage. You also must add that towers have way too much health regen...

 

I would like to see that system again, but creeps should hurt more and/or heroes have less regeneration, and towers also regen less. So the laning phase could be something challenging again, not a farm fest, imo.

I think Lurker is perfect lategame hero. Early-mid game hes not that strong IMO (I mean when have you really seen a Lurker get rampage or godlike, he simply doesn't do enough damage). But lategame he can continually cast his ulti while popping stuns all over the place.

but he can farm pretty easily, healing with E, with his high attack damage, even if your enemy has a ts ward in the lane you still dont have any problems... with lurker i got my record of having ihan at the 9 minute mark without taking any kill, i got almost every creep. Yes, he is a late game hero, but appart from the damage, his AoE stun is pretty effective in teamfights and chasing enemies he is a nightmare.

This I cannot agree more. The solo lane picks are very limited to those that has the ability to counter early push.

 

The predictable aggro mechanic adds on to the boring lanin' phase as well.
