Need hero or item vs casters

a mana draining / instant drain item is useless late game because casters have so much int they just regen it straight away (esp if it was an upgraded taser they would have enough mana back to cast any spell after 5 secs), it would be more useful vs agi / str heroes bringing more complications into the game because they would then have to look at int items or be countered easily because they cant use any spells

 

a spell dmg reflect item would be super shap because everyone would just stack it with a barbed and walk around trying to be tanks + raynor lines up kill shot vs 100 hp hero and is maxed out on int > reflect kills raynor

 

however an item that reduces targets spell dmg for X time would be good, although cast range would need to be huge or alternatively make it an armour item with an activate = reduces spell dmg by 30% for 5 seconds

 

i also guess a targeted item similar to taser that causes X damage per mana used by enemy hero works too, although would need to be a small damage long time effect

because as i explained it would be counter active to its purpose, it would not be used vs casters but instead against STR and AGI heroes & then you would stack it with a taser so that even after they get some mana back they are silenced

 

team to util first wins, carries become useless

A super easy fix to this is just to make it scale with % of max or current energy. It would just be an Energy Pyre of sorts :P

But that was basically the old Psionic Lasher. At one point in time (if I remember correctly) it dealt something like 3% max energy as spell damage, and back then it was considered OP. So it was nerfed and nerfed until it was finally removed... :(

Giving yourself an active Spell Shield of sorts is a much better solution than trying to debuff an enemy IMO. Or you know.. just buy spell resist :3

lightning rod use to actually drain energy and give a % of it to the person with rod. as well as did damage based on the amount drained. but ppl thought it was op on heroes like lord z and tychus who needed energy to cover their high cost spells but small mana pools. and early game it did royally screw intel heroes. basically having an item to keep an intel user with no energy is like having 5 shrapnels on an auto attack hero
