I would like to introduce You, a new era coming upon AoS striking from the skies faster than old nova ludacris godlike status and stronger than all biotron minions working together even with mad ultimate buff. And all of this over inifnity and beyond!

FAQ:

 

* explanation of the point obtainable at the end of the post.

 

 

1. DEFINITION IS SIMPLE:

 

a) Ladder consists of teams playing each other.

b) Teams have diffrent skill/difficulty lvl that ladder helps to estimate properly.

c) Teams are choosing by themselves what other team they want to compete with and when.

 

 

 

2. REASONING OF MAKING A LADDER:

 

*a) Ladder is made to help grow community, competitive scene and overall development of the game.

b) Ladder is made to help with progression and spreading the healthy attitude of giving/achieving the best everyone can.

*c) Ladder is made to help people understand game better and help with dealing the issues they are struggling with- cause of lack of this understanding.

 

 

 

3. HOW IT WORKS:

 

a) Ladder encourages people to play more in stable teams and more competitive

b) Ladder includes tables containing rankings and various statistics

c) There are two seperate rankings: of the month and of the year.

*d) Best team at end of the month/year acquires a title of the top team.

e) Teams are divided through tiers: top tier (3 highest ranked teams) second tier (4-10 at the ranking) and third tier (11 and more)

f) Possible streams of the games between teams (part of them)

 

 

 

4. ASSUMPTIONS AND RULES:

 

Main assumptions:

a) Ladder is being constantly worked on, this includes balancing, changing, adding, deleting the assumptions, rules and features with help of the community and participants.

 

Team assumptions:

*b) Each team should consist 5-6 players (5+1 sub) to a maximum number of 10 players (5+5 subs)

c) Each team should have a logo, must have a name and a team captain- cp (which is responsible for team), possibly vice team captain- vcp

d) Every case related with ladder should be done between cp/vcp and organizers.

e) Every player can be assigned only to one team.

*f) Every team can exchange member of the team once every 2 weeks (captain/vcp and new player message about this to organizer of ladder)

 

Points/Ranking assumptions:

*g) Maximum amount of games vs same team per each week for ladder purposes is 3.

*h) Each win vs team registered in ladder gives 5 points, each lose takes away 2,5 points.

*I) Each Win vs team with higher tier class by 1 - gives 1 additional point, Each win vs team with higher tier class by 2 - gives 2 additional points.

*j) Each win vs any team from top tier class gives 2 additional points.

 

Tournament assumptions:

*k) If team plays any current tournaments approved by organizers of ladder than each 1st place gives +40 points for the team, 2nd second place gives 20 points, 3rd/4th place - 10 points.

*l) If both teams play in any current approved tournaments, and both teams agree before start, game results can calculate into ladder points with standard rules (+5 points win/-2,5 points loss/+2 bonus points win vs top team/+1 bonus point vs +1 tier team/+2 bonus points vs +2 tier team)

 

Results of matches assumptions:

*m) Every win must be confirmed by cp/vcp in team ladder results thread that will be made as soon as ladder starts - this must be done by post containing screenshot of the end of the game and a replay.

 

 

 

5. GAME RULES:

 

*a) Draft mode:

 

T1- team 1

T2- team 2

 

0th stage: Current auto-bans (and any additional auto-bans agreed by both teams)

 

1st stage: T1Ban -------> T2Ban ------> T1Ban ------> T2Ban ------> T1Ban -> T2Ban ------ (3 global x2)

2nd stage: T1 pick 1x -> T2 pick 2x -------------------> T1 pick 2x --------------> T2 pick 1x - (3 picks for each team)

3rd stage: T1Ban ------> T2Ban ------------------------------------------------------------------------- (1 global x2)

4th stage: T1 pick 1x -> T2 pick 1x -> T1 pick 1x -> T2 pick 1x -------------------------------- (2 picks for each team)

 

- 1,5 minutes for each ban/pick

- Picks/Bans are unique

 

In case of prolonging the picks/bans, exceeding the 1,5 minute timing and existance of a team from the match not being comfort with it, not accepting behaviour, situation like this- there is possibilty of punishment for the prolonging team (2 negative points/negating the winning points for a match/suspension or even ban from the ladder- depending on intensity and frequency of the incident of the certain team). In that case, message with evidence (video, stream) to organizer of the ladder is required.

 

As a hint for teams who value their time- suggested is to remind opposing team about this rule and make a draft inside the game (after starting and pausing instantly the game, instead of making draft at the lobby chat). And in case of any problems sending the replay as an evidence.

 

b) Current auto-bans (Heroes): (Diffrent auto's can be accepted by both captains)

c) Auto-banned items, abilities, specific stuff:

- S-H-dodging.

 

d) Pauses:

Each Team will be allowed a maximum of 2 pauses a game. These pause have a maximum duration of 5 minutes, if over this, the team that asked for the pause forfeits the game. When requesting a pause ingame, type "pp" in the All chat and the enemy team must pause immediately. If the pause is in the middle of a team fight, or is unsuitable for any of the players at the time, the game must stabilize before said team pauses. Once the pause is made, a reason must be stated why the pause occured, and for this duration everyone must wait patiently. Once the person who requested the pause is able to play again, he needs to state so in the All chat, and the enemy team should unpause. In the act of a ninja-pause/unpause the game is forfeit.

 

e) Drops/Disconnections:

If there are drops during the game, the teams may wait 5 minutes for the dropped player to return, If he is not online and there is no information about him coming back. If he doesnt return, an agreement must be made between the captains, but for a general guideline is- if 10 minutes of the game has past, and said player drops, you should not remake. Before 10 minutes, its ok to reset the game and play if team have his 6th player and both captains agreed.

 

 

 

*6. WHEN IT STARTS?:

 

As soon as at least 5 teams sign in correctly.

 

 

 

7. REGISTRATION:

 

a) Via pm on forum with confirmation of all members every saturday on mumble server of Aeon of Storms at 9pm (CET + 1 Timezone) or diffrent time accepted via pm by any organizer of ladder.

EXPLANATION:

 

2. a) The highest influence on progress of the game is high competitive scene that now game is lacking. Constant tournaments with prizes, teams having their goals and fighting to achieve them, videos, streams of high lvl games and plays inspiring new players- have the most impact on community getting bigger, having better polished game, motivating developers to work on a game.

c) Aeon of Storms is competitive MOBA 5v5 strategy game, ladder helps playing the game according to how it truly is. The ladder system provides better obtaining of progression and with that- also better understanding of the game.

 

3. d) Reward for motivating the teams/people. Reward includes coloured name tags in game, being mentioned at certain places (for example: results topic, future website or even logo screen of the game). There is also option to obtain diffrent name tags for 2nd and 3rd team

 

4. a) How ladder could be an example of competitiveness and progression if it didn't progress itself? :)

b) Still encouraging and strongly suggesting 5-6 player teams. Reason behind this is having more active players, having more teams which gives more matches, more strategies, styles, motivates more people to progress.

Teams with less members have stronger bonds between each other which affects the atmosphere and higher lvl of play, also every member is playing and active.

This rule is very important, there is no sense to have something like 2 teams with 40 members and 15 of them playing instead of 3 teams.

Have in mind that it doesn't exclude existance of clans with higher amount of members and making a teams- divisions containing people that wants to play a competitive ladder.

f) Sometimes players leave game/teams, there are changes to roster. This rule helps teams to maintain on scene and prevents from having infinite players pool.

g) To prevent abusing/cheating the ladder, making easy points on weaker teams, preventing agreements between two teams to earn easy points. It also forces teams to fight vs diffrent teams which helps with diversity of matches and progression of skill lvl.

h) Helps balance amount of games with winratio affecting ranking in ladder.

i) Problems with ladders is people don't wanna play vs more difficult teams, this rule reward high bracket matches.

j) Same as above i) + Most of the time top tier teams fight vs other top tier teams which causes harder to get, achieve high winratios of those matches. Otherwise, in case of non existance of any assumption like this- it would be really hard to maintain at top tier as a team even if the team is the best/really good and it would give false image of true skill/difficulty lvl of the teams. Shortly this all helps to balance this out.

k, l) Encouraging participating at the tournaments.

m) Ensuring the correctness of the ladder without implemented automatic system, prevents cheating.

 

5. a) Draft mode is more competitive, gives more strategy, more diversity of picks, and helps with balance of the game.

1st team bans Queen, 2nd team bans Micro

1st team bans Marine King, 2nd team bans Drake

 

2nd stage: 1st team picks Rancor, 2nd team picks Cow and Raynor

1st team picks Tosh and Brine, 2nd team picks Maar

 

3rd stage: 1st team bans Darpa, 2nd team bans Cain

 

4th stage: 1st team picks Nova, 2nd team picks Rory

1st team picks Leo, 2nd team picks Zeratul

 

Reasoning behind "1,5 minutes for each ban/pick" rule is to not prolong too much preparing the game. 1,5min x 18picks/bans is already 27min, including preparing game lobby/inviting teams/players, agreements on auto-bans it can be/go into even 40 minutes.

 

6. When 5 teams sign in, there will be made asap new topic for the ladder purposes. It will contain results, tables, rankings, statistics and cp/vcp of teams will be post there outcomes of the matches (screenshot + replay). In future We are looking for seperate website for the ladder that will include all of this stuff and more.

 

 

 

FUTURE PLANS:

 

In general:

-Rewards : Prizes (Sponsors/Money flow)

-Website, Videos, Streams, Other cool stuff.

 

In detail, listed by priority:

- Website

- Acquiring mumble channel for ladder purposes (talked with the Devs of the game- will be made, when ladder starts :) )

- Optionable diffrent statistics, like specific player winratio, hero picks, heroes winratios and more

- Automatization of game results and various statistics on website

- Advertisement, especially on logo/loading screen of AoS and many other diffrent places (forums etc) (talked with the Devs of the game- surely possible in future, after ladder starts and obtaining some graphics/logo)

-Losing costs 2,5 points from 2

-Winning vs higher tier class team by 1 - 1 additional points for a win, winning vs team with higher tier class by 2 - 2 additional points for a win

-Amount of teams required to start ladder - 5 from 6

-Change of streaming timezone (from CEST +2 - summer time to CET +1)
