Ah this reminds me of Broodwar!! i remember i used to play a DBZ RPG game and we'd get the same 4-5 players maybe lose 1 or 2 but wed have to save before a boss battle and if we lose wed have to create a game and get the same players in it and start from the save points and try agian instead of having to start from beginning :D

It works and you don't need everyone (although it's less clear why you would want to resume without everyone). If you don't have everyone, it's as if the missing players left at the time you resume the game (so you will get leavers buff, money, etc.).

Would this work as a temporary fix for the pause-quit bug? If re-entering the game, at the point that someone quit, would it still be affected by that?

You could recover the game right before the person pause-quit (you don't have to recover at the end of a replay). If that person isn't in the game, it will be as if they quit at the moment you recover the game. I don't know what would happen if you recovered to a point after someone pause-quit.

Best Broodwar UMS ever! *Goes behind beacon for secret power up* *Goes to left corner for second power up* *Uses dragonball pick up to never lose* Wins game!

No idea how I'm remembering all of this...
