Legacy
So honestly, people like me or many other hero creators, are sick of people saying like "oh thats op" and not why/how to fix it. Part One: The Skills HP: Enter message saying like "Oh well that is overpowered, giving a hero 30% cd reduction as thier passive because they have more power then most high level items, i suggest lowering it down to 20% cd reduction." This is a very helpful comment because it tells you what is wrong with it, how to fix it, and not saying "OP OP OP OP" 1: Oh that is underpowered because 5% int scaling and low base damage is not a very good damage over time effect. I suggest increasing it to 15% int scaling, and doubling the base damage because you will be able to do the same as toxi's effect. This would be an example of how to buff a hero's skill, well being friendly. 2: That skill is well balanced because it does a good amount of damage, compared to people with similiar skills. No point in making more examples, you have seen them all. Part Two: Synergizing Questions asked: 1. Does it fit with the theme of the other abilities? Yes, the abilities all share a theme, and one does not stand oddly out. 2. Does it allow combos with the abilities? Yes, if you use E after Q, you deal massive amounts of damage. 3. Does it combo well with other hero's abilities? Yes if you use R with Rancor's R, you deal lots of AoE damage. Part Three: Choices Questions Asked: 1. Would you pick this hero over other heroes that fit the same role? Yes, because i believe his harassing abilities are stronger over Maar's, and he is more mana efficient. 2. Would you want this hero on your team? Yes, because i would love a good support who can harass people, letting me get my farm. 3. Do you think this hero would be fun to play? Well, this depends on the player's play style. So i cant answer this one. Part Four: Finale/Suggestions if any. (example) I think this hero is very original, because its abilities work together, have not been taken from other heroes, and has a unique playstyle. I would play this hero because (yes or no and give why) it is very creative, and fits the roles of somebody i want to play, they have an escape and burst damage. But, i dislike the name of W because it doesnt make any sense. Or... I dont think this heroes ultimate would be that fitting of his play style because (insert reason why) I dont know, maybe you guys could use it one time, would be very helpful to the person who you gave the advice to. Banzaiguy
First off, let me tell you how the hero suggestions in the forums work. If your hero has an average-great concept, but terribly imbalanced skills, you'll get more comments from people telling you your hero is op. Heroes with great balance and concept don't actually get many comments because most people don't like to make a post with just a compliment. People don't like to give compliments, only criticism. Or at most they'd tack some praise onto a post criticizing the hero. Also, they don't really like to write long posts on hero suggestions. So yea, you're gonna have this problem unless you've got an excellent hero that gets everyone hyped up. I've hosted 5 hero creation contests in the old forums, and it's been like this most of the time, barring a few individuals who dedicated a large portion of their time to giving constructive criticism for hero suggestions. NoWaterJustIce
I find that if i want feedback on a hero suggestion that make the hero, then make it slightly op or up on purpose so that people will comment.
Eliwan
Frankly, it's impossible to look at synergy as there are ~200 abilities that you have to keep in mind-- but not just those abilities, the other abilities of both the hero in question and the suggestion; but also that of enemy abilities or possible tri- or quad- team-work efforts. I agree with part 1 though; some people just write "that's OP as hell and if you don't know why you don't understand this game"... and never elaborate; even when other people will write how balanced it is. =\ The other two just feel excessively... impossible to follow. You can't make a list of questions that works for every hero-- otherwise, the heroes would have to be bland and unimaginative. It's just not feasible-- as nice as it would be. My advice? When you respond to your thread, use multiquote... and don't multiquote whichever posts displease you greatly; or alternatively whichever posts have no evidence just ask for elaboration-- and if they do not give it; simply ignore them. Also wtf my phone rang once, then the caller hung up? =;=" And called back like 1 minute later? Maybe?
Legacy
Meh, was sick of people just blabbing about this. Its only just a guideline, but i will do it for all of the heroes which i end of seeing. Thought forum could try and be slightly nicer. Itsthatguy
It was funny, I make a lot of hero suggestions and usually ppl don't comment on it, unless they say, oh its great concept and seems fairly balance. Then they like it or watever. I find it kinda silly tho. The heroes that I make that are specialized concepts and balanced at the same time rarely get commented on. I actually was bored one time and made a super stupid hero because i wanted it to be super rediculious and troll. It didn't take long for it to get a couple of comments on it :P First off, let me tell you how the hero suggestions in the forums work. So so so true. I do try to comment on hero builds i like. On ones that are super OP are just seem plain dumb to me, i try to prevent myself from commenting afraid i'd be to Harsh or something. :P Then the super long ones, i'm usually to lazy to read. Some i just skip. It varies.
