Silence Shot not a skill shot

It's easy to juke by melee heroes and

 

It just does a lot of damage in one shot combined with raynor's Q, so it has an effect similar to nidalee's spear (in LoL). She can spam it all day, and even if most of them miss, the few that hit are going to be taking half of a squishy's health bar.

 

Of course, that doesn't mean it's that OP. Raynor is easily dived/killed and needs INT to do loads of damage.

Seriously... to make it any smaller & you're going to be sitting with the same problem as before... you click on the hero with the shot & it misses.

 

Next time watch the raynor & you'll see how easy it is to dodge the shot. When he enters his E animation... you move = dodged! Problem Raynor?

I disagree- I play with my friend all the time (DuX) and he likes Raynor. You'll see us in pubs a lot and he misses it all the time. Now he definitely hits about 80% but lots of the more skilled players are constantly moving in anticipation. Usually early game when we are laning and he has trouble hitting enemy heroes that player tends to be decent. Or maybe we suck, w/e.

I dont know what should be changed, I just feel like silence shot is too good. Unless you're completely imcompotent, you can hit more than half of the shots, and with a 6 second silence, high dmg, and low CD I think it needs to have a change of some kind. I think the main problem is on the damage it does, it scales too well for an ability with such a low CD.

It appears most people dont agree with me on this, but I'm just saying that most skillshots dont hit almost every time (and this is a particularly good one).

Lets see.... harder to land skillshots...... grunty rocket from long range, cow toilet from long range..... (15+) Thats well it.... in the entire list of aos skillshots

 

It's easy as hell to hit someone with a rocket or a toilet at close range, but (for the rocket, not the toilet) the reward is less. It's (generally) easy to hit 1 enemy with silencing shot, but the reward is less than if you hit multiple enemies (up to 5).So actually silencing shot is more of a skill shot than Cow's toilet, and about the same as the rocket.

I really hate to bring in another game to use as a comparison but here goes...

 

I'm going to use Quake 3 as an example... so by your logic, the fact that you can one shot someone with a weapon like the rail gun (which was a skill shot), they should nerf it to shap & make it a less viable weapon?

 

A few ppl have said that raynor's snipe should remain as it is... yet because less than a hand full of ppl have said that it's to strong, we should basically make it less viable!? Have you ever thought that it's the items raynor carries that could be the problem & not the skill itself? & just because you play shadow/nova in pubs & you believe you should be unstoppible due to playing said heros, that raynor should be nerfed & not the items? But then by that logic... both shadow & nova should be nerfed too... cause they kill INT heros to well?

 

Please think about the repercussions of your statement before commenting again...

All I want to know is, do you actually play raynor, or are you just pissed that he silences you a lot?

 

I would LOVE to see you land 100% of shots against a team of decent players, so feel free to post that replay ;)

Until then there really isn't anything backing your claim.

 

Raynor skill shot is on par with other skill shots in game, you have to line it up and its very dodgeable if you pay attention.

 

I do however agree that a 6 second silence with such a short cooldown is rather unfun, but it is what it is :/

Moltov would be harder to land from a similar distance as silence shot bc of the arc time ;)

decent players will walk much around when they lane against raynor.

and raynor will get mana problems.

 

you need a good team in front of you.

when 1-3 players are not in team-game right.

or they soloing around the map and dont stay close.

you can press raynor into the trash folder.

 

hes a support and the others need to use this and take an eye on him.

when they cannot use that - raynor can do nothing.

just die.

like a fly.

with his low armor and health with no escape quality.

 

but do you have the right team.

he can rule. very fun to play with his long range skills.

i love this killshot, when enemy want to escape.

or the silence shot on cloaked enemys with low health when they die.

 

raynor shines or dies. nothing at the mid.

i think we need to worry about raynor ulti more its cd so low and for that amout of dam is crazy

Heroes can block it. Lockbox blocks its, warpshard blocks it, zera's void blocks it.

Its a channeled ability so you got time to run/silence/kill him while he casts it.

 

OT: I think the silence is to long, they lowered the cd on lvl 4 by 2 seconds yet the silence remained the same :(

Agreed. I've been playing Raynor alot recently and his role is nuke, just like cyprus. Cyprus is mobile, does more damage with ult and has rocks for positioning, aoe, and contribution to team fights other than just ult. Raynor is range nuke with less damage. The only thing he contributes other than that is silence and mark (Q). The area of effect of his silence shot is needed to contribute anything to team fights and sustain lane durability in the early and mid game. Otherwise there's nothing else to fear until late game when he has super high INT. My main is Darpa and even without his jump I'll say that Raynor's silence is not that hard to dodge if you watch for it at all. The other thing is that his ult is blockable. It happens maybe 5-10% of the time in team games, but is still appreciable. What I'm saying is that any perceived ease of landing Raynor's skills can be mitigated by skill of an individual or team. If you're getting dominated by a Raynor pub with no team, it's probably gg already.
