Classic UI Next Patch?

No, because ppl get used to the new things and they forget the rest.

 

Sounds rational. LOL!

 

So are you really saying people should be forced to get used to the terrible new UI and that the reason flipped UI has to be changed every game is that the devs are hoping people will find it annoying enough to keep changing every game that they will just give up eventually and play with the UI on the right? Thats the no BS conclusion that makes the most sense to me. I mean, according to the poll about the subject you would think flip UI would default with the minimap on the left, and then if people wanted the UI to look just like LoL, they could flip the interface so that the minimap is on the right.

 

Still looking for a rational explanation why players should be "forced" to use this new terrible UI when it should not be too much effort for the devs to allow players to use the pre 1.70 UI if they want to.

 

My guess is this thread will have a lot of crickets chirping as far as the devs replying with an acceptable and honest answer one way or the other, cause the flipped UI shenanigans seem pretty obvious in what they are trying to achieve in the hopes people will just "get used to it" so they can retire flipped UI completely and just leave their broken crappy UI with the minimap on the right.

 

Nevertheless, I hope to be proven wrong so hopefully we will all be hearing about classicUI being a great new feature in the next patch so we can all get excited again.

why would anyone like the old shap UI anyway? its just like long ago when new hp bar came out, everyone hated it.. but what happen now? if u go back to 2.0 you'll cry how horrible old hp bar is

A lot of people don't like it because the new UI is crap (maybe you like it then again but some people prefer a McDonald's Cheeseburger to a well cooked steak). We have been over why the new UI is garbage enough on this forum, so at this point it is a matter of giving people choices and options, not a debate about what is better and what is not.

Yup, the health bar change was a downgrade that people just got used to or else left the game. If my memory serves me correctly, there were a billion things people hated in that patch (bullet time was the biggest if I remember correctly) that whether people permanently left the game or not because of the health bars was impossible to say because of how many other things people were raging about at the time. That patch pretty much halved AoS' popularity and started the first major exodus from the game to other MOBA games. I know I hated bullet time enough I stopped playing for quite a while until I read in the patch notes that they addressed some of the concerns. Health bars I think were improved/changed a bit, but I think most people preferred the SCII health bars to the health bars borrowed from LoL.

Owl, as much as you've given reasons for why the UI is bad, there have been as many (if not more) reasons given for why the present UI is better. Why not just accept that it's never coming back and either A: Leave, or B: Learn to use the new one?

 

Or C: give users the option of using the old one so everybody is happy. And I don't want to get in another debate about why the present UI is better or worse than the old one, because I already have proven the case objectively. Simply put, the new UI is less user friendly as it takes more cognitive load to use the user interface and more extra effort at using the user interface than the previous one in terms of mouse movement and eye gaze. And though it gives a little more screen real estate in the bottom center of the map, if that indeed was the primary goal, then there are much better ways of laying out the panels that achieve that goal, while also not spacing out all the panels in the most inefficient layout imaginable. Maybe because some of you don't know anything about user interfaces is why you actually think this "New UI" is better, or maybe you are just defending the devs because you like them, but whatever the case happens to be there is strong disagreement about this new UI and whether it is demonstrably better or worse than the pre 1.70 UI. So to solve this problem, just give AoS users the options of using the old UI and everyone will be happy.

Its frustrating trying to click for an item in the heat of battle when the buttons are the size of my ants arse hole

 

You have pet ants? LOL, but yah according to the "never programmed or designed software ever in my life UI" experts on these forums, you are a total and complete noob and should probably just kill yourself for not rebinding your inventory keys and using those instead of clicking, then after killing yourself reanimate your dead body with new key bindings and force yourself to enjoy the new UI with your new zombie brain, then when you realize that even as a zombie you still don't like the new UI you should then kill yourself again, with a shotgun shot at point blank range so that your zombified corpse can no longer be reanimated again the next time they screw up the user interface this badly.

Also; on topic; I think it's actually hard to have multiple UIs-- Wrath spent like a week making the flip interface thing but it uses the same resources-- I don't know much about that part of the editor; but from what I have heard having more than one UI is difficult.

Part of me wants to say, "what's wrong with giving people choices", another part wants to ask "how is old one better" but most importantly, I want to say that if you have flip interface option permanent (so you don't have to change it every game), i'd be quite happy with things as they are.

Proven the case objectively? That's a joke. You offered up your own idea of an interface and everybody hated it.
