[Item] Increase attack range

Has anyone ever thought of adding an item that increased attack range by maybe 1 or 2 or .5? Could be quite useful for some heroes... Also easily abused by some heroes...

 

Please discuss possible abuses of an item like this, heroes it would not be allowed on, and costs, such as, would it be a late game item, or an early game item?

 

Sorry I don't have exact stats and ectera on it. Not sure if someone has the same idea, just brainstorming really.

ok an flat amount be not balanced. it needs be based off current hero range or something. Since melee heroes gain most from flat amount you can't do that, so idea would be mid-range units gain most benefit from this item and higher and lower range gain less benefit. That being said mid-range gain most benefit then melee, then higher range units. so maybe for melee like 0.75 range increase, and maybe for large range heroes 0.5 range for mid-range maybe 1.25. Even then, it won’t be good enough, so it needs be dynamic value where it changes on current hero, meaning most heroes have different range benefit from this item. Highest Range: BR(Towers will be base Base) Use Star screen and Leo, 1.25 IIRC and 8 for SS as HR hero range :P. Towers have range of 8.5 (BR-HR)*0.5 I’m sure midknight have some sort math thing to have dynamic hero range bonus where higher number less range you get that doesn’t surpass range of turrets, range for melee have same type increase but is less than mid-range heroes mid-range heroes gain most benefit from item higher range heroes gain less benefit from item.

There is no percentage increase option in the editor--but you could just have it so that melee heroes have a melee flag of sorts and get a different buff from ranged heroes.

 

Shadow should count as ranged, though...

 

EDIT: Whoops, didn't notice the date on this, I forgot how I got to this thread...

 

I like the idea though. Sorry for necro.
