Phyresis
Can someone please explain to me why Google and Bing are under the list of online users at the bottom of the main page? I have been wondering this for a while. The weird part is, that they dont seem to actually have accounts on here, just appear there. is it because you can find this address in their search engine? Explanation pls. residente
LightZOut
Not entirely sure, but they could be index bots/search spiders. Just speculation though. Eliwan

Midknight
Search engines work in two major ways. A) People will submit their sites to a search engine to be listed. B) Search engines will run "bots" that index web sites. Back in the "olden days", method A was the only method. Now, method B has, for all intents and purposes, replaced it. A search engine bot will submit it's "bot credentials" to web sites and be "allowed in" to index the site whether it's a password protected site or otherwise. Sites allow the bots to do this because it gets their sited listed on search engines and brings traffic to them. I remember coming across a hack several years ago in which you adjust your registry so that your computer submits itself as if it were the Google bot and this can allow you to get backdoor access to some password-restricted sites without rigorous credential checking.
