Legacy
To be honest, i thought Shadowmourne was perfectly fine at 50% except for one thing. I hated playing my little infestor in the back with lots of hp, then somebody hits me with it and i die. I would have about 400 attack since i went high int, so i would get destroyed. I feel that its been nerfed just a bit too hard with 30% damage and high cost. Maybe this would work to fix it. [unique]: Deals 65% damage to target based on how much damage gained by items that give weapon damage. Lasts 3 seconds. (all the other shadowmourne stuff) So you have an argus crystal, does nothing to you. Have a masamume? Then you would take 65 damage. Not sure if this would be any good, or would it be not a bad idea?
residente
The dmg from your own hero is the less problem you can have. You should ask anyone with FoE, Pyre, Stun Baton etc on their builds. I would never buy shadowmourne to kick Unix ass because he has 400 damage, I would buy it against Cain, Shadow, Nova, blabla bla, you know... Phyresis
It pwns anyone who uses lots of unique dps items. Zera will die almost instantly to shadow mourne because of the usual pyre and his passive backstab. It also pwns barlog waaaaaay to hard because it procs his herroic passive. It only copies HEROIC PASSIVES, not Level up passives. This is why Shadowmourne counters grunty the most, since it does copy his Heroic passive. IT doesn't copy Heroic ACtives either
Ironsights
um, balrog's HEROIC PASSIVE deals damage, the leech comes from a level up passive. Since the heroic passive deals damage based on HP, and the shadow doesnt lose health, it always hits for max damage. That is countering pretty hard. Anyway...I think shadowmourne is an acceptable spot right now. It still feels really good, but doesn't seem to insta-rape like it used to, and it is pretty expensive. I vote we leave it alone for now and focus on more important balance concerns.

But Since Balrog's Heroic Passive Deals Physical Damage, it actually only deals 30% damage (of shadowmourne). You may say I'm wrong (I'm not sure myself) But i did a test with Bandit Artifice Balrog Clone (which has basicly similar effects), and Both the attack and Heroic passive were doing less damage than the original balrog (And by quite a bit i might add). The test was based on Lifesteal both having 10% Lifesteal only, altho my own balrog probably had 180 more Hp. Either way it would only make a difference of 1 lifesteal point. I think thats also how SCII editor works. When you lower Weapon damage, you are actually lowering the Physical damage, Not the weapons. When i was explaining about the heroic passive, It was a response to It pwns anyone who uses lots of unique dps items. Zera will die almost instantly to shadow mourne because of the usual pyre and his passive backstab. It also pwns barlog waaaaaay to hard because it procs his herroic passive. Zeratuls passive backstab is a level up passive which shadowmourne does not copy.
Ironsights
I know that I play balrog quite often, and shadowmourne hurts its one of the only items in the game that forces me to use different items than what I was originally using. even as the beastly tank balrog, you will be cut to ribbons if using Attack Proc items, since rog has few escape options. And sure, it does less damage than what I am dishing out, but its all bonus damage, so it is still quite painful to have to deal with a third of yourself AND the enemy at the same time. lOvOl
Shadowmourne's passive is very good, just I think the stats on Shadowmourne don't really synergize well with most builds.

The unique is great, but the stats are. Eh at best. Not to mention that shadowmourne is better later game than early, since rushing it won't really counter an enemy who doesn't even have items for shadowmourne to proc. VasyaKot
I will never believe that zera will die from 3 hits of 150 dmg and 5% of his health -.-
