sTeveN
Why do we no longer have evasion items? And we don't have heroes with evasion passive. Can't ghosting garb rework? We should have more items based on it.
BestPlayer
Because evasion is random, and if noobs live or die based on numbers, noobs will either complain they didn't get a kill, or complain they did get killed. Itsthatguy
Tsktsktsk. To bad we can still complain about the randomness of Crit. Especially since there are items that depend on ur luckyness like lethal barb and Cerebros
doxthefox
Why not keep the randomness. The creators name is rgn... isn't that short for random number generator. The game should be based on luck and not skill. Skill is overrated and needs a nerf anyway.
sTeveN
Keep the randomness! Also we should have an hero like chaos knight. It has random dmg, random second of stun.
FruitNinja
There weren't that many evasion items--one was a pair of boots, the other was a carry item. I don't see the purpose of having chance based evasion since it's not reliable at all and would be an incredibly strong counter to AA heroes if it could be stacked in reasonable amounts. tukeykramer
So... If evasion was removed in an attempt to avoid randomness, why do crits still have essentially the same chance-based mechanic?

BestPlayer
So... If evasion was removed in an attempt to avoid randomness, why do crits still have essentially the same chance-based mechanic? What? Are you applying your circle-logic again? "They may indeed have removed some measurement of chance, but not all of it I daresay, and thus thou argument is null and void" Why, pray tell, did they remove evasion? Because people were whining it was a random element of the game, and would rather not have it be a part of it. I can't blame you for not being particularly well informed, considering you rose to prominence and became more vocal only after evasion had basically been removed - the only remainder being that one talent in the defense tree. I can't blame you for not being particularly well informed, considering you rose to prominence and became more vocal only after evasion had basically been removed - the only remainder being that one talent in the defense tree. I was around when the change was first made and raised the same question then as well. My logic isn't circular at all. Crits and evasion are both random elements and the attributes that define their randomness are quite similar. If evasion was removed simply because people didn't like evasion or if it was removed to reduce the overall amount of randomness in the game, fine. However, if it was removed because the mechanic itself was "too random," (as you imply) then, by that logic, crits should also be removed. In other words, I was pointing out the illogic in your response (although you can't be faulted for simply restating that illogic if that really was the reason evasion was removed). Jaysi
Could add an item that makes an enemy miss every fourth attack or something along those lines. Only thing is on hit items like Stun Baton and Lightning Rod that procure every so many hits if they matched up with this item if the effect would just not happen then, not really fair in that case. Could have the effect still happen but the physical damage be mitigated to 1 or 0. I think a new evasion-type item like that would be interesting. residente, Eliwan and Legacy

FruitNinja
Evasion is allowed to be powerful (negating the whole autoattack) because it's not reliable. If evasion is easy to acquire, then autoattack heroes would be easily countered, whereas with armor, AA heroes have options such as on-hit, crits, etc, and with spell resist, they can just build weapon damage. Evasion can't be built against, most AA heroes have sucky INT scalings. Which then leads to evasion being extremely hard to acquire because if anyone could get it there would be a balance issue. Tanks with evasion would reign supreme. I'd rather see an item that gives you 100% evasion for short bursts. Eliwan
