Maar - spammer?

Well hello there,

I've just played a game against Maar and I know I'm definitly not the best AoS player out there,

but I think the spam rate of Maar in this game needs to be looked at!

Opinions please!

I think there was already a thread about this, though this is about the game, is it because of how the game turned out that he was strong, or character based?

To date, I have never played with or against a decent MAAR in any game ever. They all use terribad pure int builds and use only heat wave plus, frost wave, and sap and rarely anything else. They don't even combo their skills well or even understand how good his auras are and when to use them.

That being said, a couple of items own him extremely hard. For burst damage heroes, taser will essentially ruin a pure int MAAR and make him an easy kill. For AA heroes or attrition heroes, get executioner's axe as unless it is bugged will render much of the lifesteal from sap useless. You will still take damage from sap, but he will only get 20% of what he normally gets in lifesteal.

Maar is pretty fragile and slow, some simple DPS can easily take down Maar. I play Maar personally and being aggressive is quite hard because Maar is slow and fragile, if someone gets in range to taser me i'm usually going to die. best way to handle Maar is silence and stay a certain distance, Maar's sap has a fairly small range and u have to do it quick or u will get KOed very fast

The average maar does not use anything except heat wave plus, sap, or fireballs. it is still enough to be a very large nuisance, especially in small, early game skirmishes. I've tried it and did just that, to good results. Parallax counters all counters to Maar, and E mantle is also effective. You can get enough int to be a huge pain with just Argus, Nitrogen, and can still end up tanky if you also add another int item, such as a gravity edge. A relatively low int build, but with a focus on cooldown reduction is also a pain. While I probably would never try it, I wonder, just how well would a crit build + Cerebro work on Maar? If you get a couple arcbounds (lOvOl, you told everyone to get them damn arcbounds on Balrog, here's payback), you move, attack and crit well. With low cooldowns you could just spam sap, auras, frost wave, whatever floats your boat. It'd be pretty hard to farm up to all those items, but come superlate game you'd be spamming spells like no other.
